But it’s Christmas

When you face stormy seas I will be there with you with endurance and calm; you will not be engulfed in raging rivers. If it seems like you’re walking through fire with flames licking at your limbs, keep going; you won’t be burned

But it’s Christmas!

And yet

The adverts for Samaritans display their telephone number. Friends share it too on their time line.

Aleppo features in the prayers of many. The comfort of our Emmanuel is near.

But it’s Christmas!

She listened to George Beverly Shea and thought of her Dad singing those carols in his tenor voice. Harmonise the chorus.

It’s a romantic notion of a long lost Dad and a childhood of security.

But it’s Christmas and shouldn’t it be decking the halls with boughs of holly and being jolly.

But it’s hope filled with mission.

She awoke this morning to a feeling of struggling in water, limbs heavy unable to rise, coming out the pool is so much effort .

She mused as she turned the corner to church of the dream and her examen. What’s the Holy Spirit saying today?

It came to her the verse .

She chatted to a friend who with life’s opposition was in the midst of homesickness and loss yet he says, ‘ but God is with us.’

She thinks of the Bethlehem story with less perfect Pinterest  and more bales of straw and draughty doors!

But it’s Christmas.

She thinks how growing up and seeing the world with a viewpoint that colours everything differently.

But it’s Christmas!

The colours look less red and green and gold

But it’s Christmas!

The colours are red and gold .

But

Silver,  chocolate brown, pink, grey and black are necessary too.

Life is colourful and it is Christmas which is a hopeful reminder of the love that births anew in her heart so she can rise to bring her bouquet into this world of many colours .

Happy Christmas to you

Love Rach x
